CORNHOLE 2026

Continental breakfast (donuts, coffee, etc.) and Lunch will be provided.

EVENTS

10:00 am: Complete All Singles, award medals; then All Doubles, award medals; then Mixed Doubles, award medals.  As Singles brackets finish, we will start corresponding Doubles brackets when all players are available.

FORMAT

  • The tournament format will be Double Elimination for each bracket.
  • Brackets will be based on ages (as of Dec 31, 2025): 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80-89, 90+. If you have a specific Doubles partner in mind, you must have their email address and year of birth when you Register in order to identify / Invite them to be your Doubles or Mixed Doubles partner. Please select a partner in the same Age Bracket (50-59,60-69,70-79,80+) as you!
  • OK Senior Games Medals (Gold, Silver, Bronze) will be awarded by Age Divisions:
    50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85-89, 90+
  • Athletes may use their own regulation approved bags. Bags will also be provided as needed.
  • Distance for Boards
  • Age 50-69 27 feet, front edge to front edge
  • Age 70-79 25 feet, front edge to front edge
  • Age 80+ or Non-Ambulatory 23 feet, front edge to front edge
  • Players are not forced to throw from these distances; Ages 70-79 are ELIGIBLE to throw from 25’ and players 80+ are ELIGIBLE to throw from 23’, but not required.
  • For instance, if all 4 players of a 70-79 game want to throw from 27’, it is ok to move the boards to 27’ or throw from a taped line at 25’.
  • Length of Game is 21 points with cancellation scoring. The first to reach or exceed this score, after a round is completed, wins the game.
  • For Doubles teams, the Age Division for bracket competition will be based on the age of the younger of the two players. OSG medals will be based on the Age Division for each player; however, if you play down into a younger bracket, your medal is based on how you finished in that younger bracket.

RULES

  • This event will follow ACL Rules and Regulations, unless noted otherwise.
  • Cornhole bags must meet ACL regulation specs: 6” square, weighing one pound.

SCORING

  • 3 points for each cornhole bag that goes completely through the hole, regardless of which player knocks it in. This is called a Cornhole.
  • 1 point for each bag that is on the board at the end of the round, including any bag hanging in the hole, or hanging off the edge but NOT touching the ground or touching another bag on the ground.
  • 0 points for a cornhole bag hanging off the front edge and is resting on a cornhole bag that is on the ground. If you can remove the bag on the ground without the one on the board falling, then a point is given.
  • Cancellation Scoring will be used for this event. The team with the highest round score, adds the difference of the two scores to their game score.
    For instance, Team A scores 5 (1 bag in the hole, 2 on the board) and Team B scores 2. The total score for that round is Team A +3 (5-2).
  • The team who wins the round throws first the next round (has honors). If the round ends in a tie, honors stay with the team that threw first the previous round.

FOULS

  • A cornhole player’s foot lands past the foot foul line (front of the cornhole board) before the bag is released.
  • A player throws out of turn. The throw the foul occurs on is voided. If the bag is in the hole or on the board, remove it.  The opponent then throws 2 consecutive bags, and play resumes. If another bag is thrown before the foul is caught, play resumes without a foul.
  • Any player touching any bags on the board before the Round has completed:
    The Round is over immediately and, if the offending team has any bags remaining, they only score the bags already thrown. If the non-offending team has any bags left, these bags receive a score of 3 without being thrown. The Round score is then finalized.
  • Any Disputes should immediately be communicated to the Event Director for resolution.

GAME PLAY

  • In Doubles, partners stand at opposite cornhole boards on the same side (lane).
  • In Singles play, both players will throw from the same board and stay in the same lane when they walk to the other end.
  • Each team will have 4 bags of one color.
  • All 8 bags begin at one end.
  • A bag spin determines which team has honors in round one (which side the spun bag’s seam points towards).
  • The team who has honors will begin play by throwing a cornhole bag at the opposite cornhole board.
  • Each player must throw from within their pitching box on their side of the board. Any part of the player’s foot must remain within the pitching box until the bag is released.
  • Players alternate throws between the two opponents until all 8 cornhole bags have been thrown.
  • If a cornhole bag hits the ground then bounces up onto the board, remove that bag because it does not count.
  • Count the points scored during the round. If no team has reached 21 points, start the next round until a team reaches 21. The team that scores the highest amount of points on the previous round will have honors.

2026 is a qualifying year to participate in the 2027 National Senior Games presented by Humana in Tulsa, OK.

Cornhole is an OPEN sport at Nationals. Athletes do not need to qualify to compete in this sport. Participation inState Senior Games gives you the opportunity to compete in preparation for Nationals.

A special opportunity is available to Oklahoma residents for National Senior Games sports that require qualifying. All Oklahoma residents who participate in select events at the 2026 Oklahoma Senior Games will automatically qualify to participate in that event at the 2027 National Senior Games presented by Humana. Please see the rule below for details.

HOST STATE QUALIFICATION: All in-state athletes who compete in designated qualifying sports at the 2026 Oklahoma Senior Games will qualify for the 2027 National Senior Games. Host State Qualification applies to the following qualifyingsports at the 2026 Oklahoma Senior Games: Archery, Badminton, 3-on-3 Basketball, Bowling, Cycling, Golf, Road Race,

Shuffleboard, Softball, Table Tennis, Tennis, Track & Field, Triathlon, Volleyball. An in-state athlete is defined as anathlete who resides in Oklahoma for at least six months of the year. In-state status will be determined by the athlete’s address on file with NSGA.
