General Rules & Information

GENERAL RULES

The following are the procedures and rules of competition governing the 2025 Oklahoma Senior Games. The Games are held during the months of August through early November in Oklahoma City, Moore, Norman, Jones, Muskogee, Edmond, Catoosa, Shawnee, Perry, Tulsa, Lawton, Weatherford and Broken Arrow.

  1. AGE FOR COMPETITION AT OKLAHOMA SENIOR GAMES

Age divisions for all singles competitions are determined by the athlete’s age as of December 31, 2025. Age divisions for all doubles and mixed doubles competitions will be determined by the following age categories and will apply to both men and women for all individual, doubles and relay competitions:   50-54; 55-59; 60-64; 65-69; 70-74; 75-79; 80-84; 85-89; 90-94; 95-99 and 100+

3 vs. 3 Basketball has the following divisions for both men and women: 40+; 45+; 50+; 55+; 60+; 65+; 70+; 75+; and 80+. Line Dance and Dragon Boat Race have the following age categories: 50+; 60+; 70+; 80+.   The team age group is determined by the youngest team member.

Sport Directors reserve the right to combine age groups.

It is the responsibility of the athlete to provide appropriate photo identification proving age and residency upon request. The Oklahoma Senior Games reserves the right to offer 40-44 and 45-49 age group divisions for badminton, cycling, table tennis, tennis and other competitions. Athletes in divisions under age 50 do not qualify for participation in National Senior Games competition.

  1. DOUBLES PARTNERS

Teams for doubles/mixed doubles events must consist of two Oklahoma residents to be considered an in-state doubles team. Teams consisting of one in-state player and one out of state player will be considered a non-resident doubles team.

Badminton, Bowling, Cornhole, Pickleball, Table Tennis and Tennis doubles partners must be of the same gender. Note: These events have separate mixed doubles competitions.

8 Ball and Shuffleboard doubles may be of mixed gender. All doubles and mixed doubles teams must compete in the age division of the younger partner as of December 31, 2025. Athletes may compete with only one partner per event.

  1. TEAMS

Rosters are limited to 10 for basketball; 10 for line dance; 15 for dragon boat race.  Age divisions for team competition is determined by the age of the youngest team player as of December 31, 2025.

TEAM UNIFORMS: Team clothing (shirts, pants, shorts) must be of like design and color. Teams must have both “home” and “away” uniforms with permanently attached numbers on front and back. Sponsors may be added to the jersey but cannot interfere with number placement.

  1. 2025 is not a qualifying year for NSGA Championship competition. 2026 is the qualifying year for the 2027 NSGA Championships in Tulsa.

  1. PROFESSIONAL ATHLETES

Professional athletes are not eligible to compete in the Oklahoma Senior Games in the sport in which they are or were a professional until 20 years after the date they last competed as a professional. They may compete in other sports in which they have not competed professionally.

  1. UNIFORMS AT THE OKLAHOMA SENIOR GAMES

All athletes must wear athletic type clothing and shoes that are usual and customary for the sport in which they are competing. Street type clothing and shoes that are inappropriate may cause disqualification. Event Directors have authorization by the Oklahoma Senior Games to make this determination.  Uniforms shall be free of inappropriate symbols or wording.

  1. OUT OF STATE RESIDENTS

Out of state individuals and teams are welcome to compete at the Oklahoma Senior Games. The athlete’s state of residence is the state where the person resides for at least six months of the year.

  1. EVENT ENTRY LIMITS

Athletes may enter as many sports or events within a sport as they wish with two exceptions. In archery, athletes may enter only one event;  swimmers are limited to participation in six events.

 

  1. REQUIRED CREDENTIALS

Any player unable to provide the required credentials on the playing field shall be declared ineligible to compete until he/she can produce them. A manager may request verification of a player’s eligibility. Should a player play and be unable to provide the required credentials, he/she or his/her team will forfeit all games in which the player participated. A valid government issued photo identification card, such as a driver’s license or passport, is the only age and residency proof accepted.

  1. CODE OF CONDUCT

Participation in the Oklahoma Senior Games as a player, coach or spectator is a privilege to be attained by meeting the standards of good sportsmanship and appropriate conduct as defined here and in the rules governing each individual sport. Athletes are bound to the virtues of fairness, integrity, responsibility and respect as they participate in the Oklahoma Senior Games.

 

 

HOW TO REGISTER FOR THE OKLAHOMA SENIOR GAMES

Go to OKSeniorGames.com.  Click the RED BUTTON saying Registration on the right side of the home page to register.  Pickleball players register on pickleballbrackets.com first.  When your Pickleball Brackets registration is complete, you will be directed back to the Oklahoma Senior Games website to register.

Begin registration with your contact information then select the event or events in which you plan to participate.  You will indicate if you will be attending the Celebration of Athletes for a $10 fee and whether you will be bringing a guest(s) ($40 each).  You also indicate whether you will be attending the Black & White ball at a cost of $20. Black & White Ball guests are $20 each. You enter your payment information and receive a receipt.

You will be able to view or update your registration if you save your Confirmation Number. 

 

For specific event information, click on the Event Calendar on the OSG home Page or click on Events on the top of the OSG home page. Scroll to the event and click on it.  All events have a document showing the date, location; rules and event director and his/her contact information.  Events also have a flyer about the event which can be downloaded and printed. Most events also have a video demonstrating the event.

 

If you are unable to use the computer to register, please call the Oklahoma Senior Games office (405. 831.1500) and Regina Stewart will assist with your registration by phone.  Ther is NO mail-in option.  The address to mail checks is:  Oklahoma Senior Games, 1530 N Harrison, PO Box 128,  Shawnee, OK 74804.

There is a $10 phone registration fee.

OSG is hosting the Black & White Ball this year on Saturday, October 25.  The event is from 7:30 to 10:00 pm featuring live music of the Talk of the Town orchestra at The University of Central Oklahoma Grand Ballroom, 100 N University Drive, Edmond, OK, 73034.  The cost to attend is $20 per person.  For more information call:  Gina Bramlett at 405.623.6530 or dancedivea@cox.net
